To the state and political figure of Kazakhstan
Hero of Socialist Labor Dinmukhamed Akhmedovich Kunaev (1912-1993), a monument-bust was erected in a park at the intersection of Bogenbai Batyr and Kunaev Streets in 1978.
Bronze bust of D.A. Kunaeva, performed according to the model of the sculptor T.S. Dosmagambetov, was mounted on a pedestal of polished granite (the architects of the monument were A.K. Kapanov, Sh.E. Valikhanov, I.Ya. Tokar, VB Dmitrievsky). On the front side of the pedestal there is the text: Kunaev Dinmukhamed Akhmedovich. Twice Hero of Socialist Labor. The height of the monument is 4.59 m. As the first secretary, Kunaev firmly implemented the policy of the Central Committee of the CPSU, headed by Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev. Vadim Medvedev called Kunayev a protege of Brezhnev and his loyal supporter. This is due to their joint work, when Brezhnev was the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan.
In February 1986, the XVI Congress of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan was held
the last under the leadership of D.A. Kunaev. On December 11, 1986, without Kunayev’s participation, a meeting of the Politburo of the CPSU Central Committee was held, which decided on his retirement.
On December 16, 1986, during the record short plenary session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan, which lasted only 18 minutes, Dinmukhamed Kunaev was removed from the post of first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan. Gennady Kolbin, first secretary of the Ulyanovsk regional committee of the CPSU, who was sent on the recommendation of the Secretary General of the CPSU Central Committee, was elected in his place. The change of the head of the republic led to riots that went down in Kazakhstani history under the name Zheltoksan. In January 1987, D.A. Kunaev was removed from the Politburo of the Central Committee of the CPSU, and in June 1987 from the Central Committee of the CPSU. One of the few leaders of the Communist Party (KP) of Kazakhstan and the republic, which was an indigenous nationality and a native of Kazakhstan.
When D.A. Kunaev achieved a significant economic recovery in Kazakhstan, the industrial potential of the republic increased significantly (mainly due to mining, raw materials industries and the energy that serves them), agriculture, the famous billion pounds of grain was produced many times.
