Kanysh Imantaevich Satpayev is a prominent and honored worker of Kazakhstan, a geologist and discoverer of numerous mineral deposits, a scientist and the first President of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan.
The name of Satpayev is always associated with a word, first of all. K.I. Satpayev is the first compiler of a school textbook of algebra in the Kazakh language, the first professional geological engineer among Kazakhs, the first Kazakh academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences, the first president and founder of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, the first director of the Institute of Geology Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, the first laureate of the State and Lenin Prizes in Kazakhstan. An outstanding geologist and organizer of science, a major statesman and a prominent public figure, Satpayev inscribed his name in gold letters in the history of his people. The greatness of K. Satpayev the academician is difficult to overestimate! A man of high erudition, possessing encyclopedic knowledge in many fields of science, Satpayev set the country an intellectual, scientific development trend, as a result of which the Kazakhstan society from enlightened turned into intellectual, scientific and professional. It was thanks to the merits of the great scientist that the foundation was laid for today’s innovative and scientific potential that our people, our youth and our country possess.
Satpayev monument
Satpayev’s memorial is located in the youth district, where there are many universities and schools located. The monument itself was erected near the building of Satbayev University. The monument was built on a multi-stage stylobate. The pedestal of the monument consists of two cubes of rectangular shape, the lower of them stands on the site. The memorial is located in the center of a small area with curly tiles. The sculpture of the academician is cast in bronze and stands on the top of the pedestal. The total area of the monument is 0.6 hectares, and the height of the monument is 3.80 meters. The monument was erected in a festive setting in 1999. The opening of the monument was timed to coincide with its 100th anniversary. At the opening ceremony was attended by the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev.
