The Uighur theatre, which began its journey with amateur art circles from the «blue diapers», has achieved high professionalism and is keeping pace with the large army of theaters of our Republic. In 2005, on the eve of its 70th anniversary, the theatку was honored with the naming of the outstanding composer – People’s Artist of the USSR, laureate of the USSR State Prize, Professor Kuddus Kuzhamyarov, whose work has become an integral part of the musical art of Kazakhstan. In the repertoire of the theatку, a large place has always been given to the works of Kazakh drama. This tradition dates back to the 30s, when the outstanding Kazakh playwright G. Musrepov personally presented his immortal play «Kozy Korpesh – Bayan Sulu» to the theatre.
