On August 30 and 31, 2019, the Southern capital of Kazakhstan will host the Tour of Almaty, the largest professional cycling race in Central Asia, for the seventh time in a row. Tour of Alamty is one of the largest and largest events in the sports life of Kazakhstan. The cycling race is marked by the International Union of Cyclists category 2.1. This makes it a unique event for the entire region. There are no competitions among professional cyclists of this level in any of the Central Asian countries. Traditionally, the Tour of Alamty gathers two dozen teams from different parts of the world. The cycling race consists of two stages and since 2019 has been held at the end of August. The finish of the second stage coincides with the ascent to the world-famous alpine skating rink “Medeu”. Over the years, the participants of the Tour of Almaty included such world cycling stars as Vincenzo Nibali, Fabio Aru, Jacob Fulsang, Ilnur Zakarin and Alexey Lutsenko. The organization of the filming process of a bicycle race has no analogues in terms of technological complexity among sports events held in Kazakhstan. However, this is justified by the final picture that sports fans can see. Thanks to the broadcast on the Eurosport TV channel, tens of millions of viewers around the world watch events on the roads of Almaty every year. In addition, live broadcasts of two racing days in the maximum can be seen on the air of the republican TV channel “QAZSPORT”. Their calling card was the work on the air of the famous Russian commentator Sergei Kurdyukov.
